Heat Shrink Tubing:

Heat Shrink Tubing.  Heat Shrink Tubing. FlexTube with meltable sealant showing.
Heat shrink tubing protects battery cables and connectors from corrosive
acid fumes near batteries and also reduces the amount of exposed lug area
for safety.
They also act as a strain relief between the cable and connector and reduce
vibration which can be telegraphed from the cable to the connector.

FlexTube has a double wall for greater strength and is lined with a
meltable sealant which helps protect the connection from corrosive
environments.
This is suggested for use where the cables will be subjected to heavy
stress (the tubing remains flexible) and / or salt water.
Conforms to DOD Mil-1-23053/4 Class 2 specifications.
Available in either black or red.

How to use QuickCable FlexTube heat shrink tubing.

First off, put your safety glasses on.

Before crimping or soldering your cable connection make
sure that the heat shrink tubing will fit over the connection.
If it will not fit, just slide it over the cable, then make your
connection.

I prefer using an electric heat gun but a torch will work fine
as long as you keep playing the flame near, but not on,
the tubing.

Position the heat shrink up against the connection and start
applying heat.
Keep moving the heat source around to get even shrinkage and
to prevent burning.

Once you see the silicone liner/sealer showing at both ends STOP.
If you keep applying heat past this point the tubing will split and
you will have to start over with a new piece.
