31 Water and Air Heating Diversion Loads for Charge Controllers

We stock both water and air heating diversion loads for alternative

energy systems.

Wind power and hydro power, as well as some solar (photovoltaic) charge

controllers require a load to accept the power that is being produced when

the batteries are full.

A diversion load will accept and use that power to keep wind and hydroelectric

generators from overspeeding when the power produced is not needed by

the batteries.

With solar - wind - micro hydro charge controllers, like the Flexcharge NC25A and NCHC ,

Trace C - Series, Morningstar Tri-Star and others.

This will allow you to use energy which would otherwise be wasted when not

needed by the batteries.

These loads also work well with the older Burkhardt and Enermaxer diversion type

charge controllers.

Water Heater Diversion Loads:

You can use one or more of these to turn your excess power into hot water.

With a 1" NPT mount they will fit into most electric water heater tanks that

use screw-in elements.

These are two element heating loads so you can also use half of the rated

wattage to match the load to your system.

bolts and a square flange you will need this adapter to mount

the water heating element.

The self-adhesive back makes this especially well suited for

Air Heater Diversion Loads:

You can use one or more of these to turn your excess power into heated

air.

We have been using an air heating diversion load on one of our systems

here since 1986.

The following air heating diversion load is an

instock item and ships daily from our inventory.

Ohmite heating load:

12 volt d.c. 300 watt (.50 ohm) air heating diversion load made in

the U.S. by OHMITE.

Model # C300KR50.

Watts: 300

Ohms: 0.5

Also known as a Vitreous Enameled Resistor.

These loads can be wired in series to increase voltage or parallel

to increase amperage.

Mounting feet are included with each unit as seen in the picture above.

A simple way to utilize excess power from a solar array, wind generator

or hydro-electric generator.

For the most efficient operation, they should be mounted vertically to

take advantage of the convection movement of the air when they heat up.

You can wire multiple units together in series or parallel or

series/parallel to get any combination of voltage and amperage

you need.
