89 Our Customers Systems
The systems shown on this page were set up by our customers.
As time goes on we will add more systems.
This is Kevin's system which is comprised of six Shell Solar mod.
SM 110 - P modules in a 12 volt d.c. configuration.
The modules can not be seen from ground level.
The charge controller is a Trace mod. C - 60 with the digital display
added.
The battery bank is 1,320 amp hours and is made up of AGM (absorbed
glass mat) batteries.
This system utilizes 12 volt d.c. for lighting and ventilation as well as a
modified sine wave inverter.
This system allows for plenty of power and is independant
of a utility hook-up.
He only needs shore power or a generator to power up
the airconditioner.
This is Mark's system on his home in Northern California.
The incoming wires from the modules is fed through the roof
using a weathertite roof jack.
The combiner box accepts the Tray Cable from the modules,
fuses them for overcurrent protection and combines them into
a heavier cable for the charge controller.
This also allows each module to be tested from ground level.
Notice the strain reliefs at the top of the combiner box, these
protect the cable and keep moisture out of the box.
The output from the combiner box goes into the
charge controller area.
Both the input and output of the Trace C-60 charge controller
have QOU circuit breakers for protection.
Mark added a muffin fan in front of the heat sink fins on the
charge controller to increase efficiency, this increase is most
noticeable on very hot days.
A voltage controlled switch is seen at the right side which
starts battery box ventilation when the batteries are being
charged.
All of the interior components are housed in
a cabinet for a clean and easily maintained
system.
The inverter is protected by a parallel pole d.c. rated circuit breaker.
The transfer switch allows the safe use of a generator when the load
requirements exceed the system capacity.
